	Page 1 : Page 2 : Page 3 : Page 4 : Page 5 : Page 6 Delco Radio Purchased by my parents in 1938 at Goodman's Furniture Store on North Genesee Street, near Bagg's Square for $1 down and $1/week payment. Goodman's Furniture was adjacent to the Utica Post Office in the Federal Building (today called the Alexander Pirnie Building) at 10 Broad Street. The 1938 Radio Console model was a "rip-off" of the Zenith Console Radio, which was the most popular console model. This Delco model received all of the local AM radio stations (Utica, Syracuse) and had a short-wave band, enabling us to listen to short-wave radio broadcasts from Italy and Germany during World War II. That radio model still works today but is hardly used. Ah, Memories. l.to r. Lionel Colton, regional/national advertising rep in NYC for WIBX, Bill Heiderich, Bill O'Donnell, WIBX Sports Director, Dick Cook, Bill Calvert and Don (?), a WIBX control room operator. Dick Cook later announced for the George Gobel TV show; Bill Calvert moved to LA and starred in TV movies, marrying Helen Wood, wife of Lionel Colton; Bill O'Donnell, became an announcer for AFL Pro Football in Baltimore. Bill Heiderich remains on the WIBX payroll. l to r. Ralph Allinger (deceased), Bill Heiderich, and Jay Mc Linden (deceased). Jay Mc Linden went from WIBX employee to become Oneida County Executive as did William (Bilkl) Byrant. Photo taken at Mets Stadium in NYC. Bill Heiderich, second from left and Ed Slusarczyk, WIBX Farm Director. Ed passed away recently after a distinguished career in radio and public service. This photo was taken at an award to students by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. That's Brian Sexton (now decesaed) in swim trunks, to the far left is Gladys Moore, Treasurer of WIBX, Inc and Norma Heidrich to her right; behind female person looking towards camera are Ev and Marie Radley, Ev being engineer at WIBX and Marie was employed for a long time by SS Kresge's Dept Store on the ground floor of First National Bank Bldg (now the Adirondack Bank). They, too, have passed away, Marie Radley passed away recently. Left to right: Tony Bennett and Lou Barile. I met Tony through his press agent Sid Ascher, a good friend of mine. Sid was Tony's press agent at the time he recorded "Because of You" , "Cold, Cold Heart", " Boulevard of Broken Dreams". He's added many more through the years to become one of the country's top singers. With Bill Donlon, owner of Donlon Enterprises at Sylvan Beach. Bill Donlon of Utica became an expert on US paper currency. We asked Dagmar to call him to the stage for some laughs. left to right: Bandleader Claude Thornhill, Singer Vic Damone and Lou Barile in the WIBX studio. Thornhill and Damone were appearng in person at the Stanley Theater. The theme song of the Claude Thornhill band was "Snowfall" a very pretty, lilting melody. Damone became famous with his Mercury recordings of "Again", "Vagabond Shoes" and a perennial favorite "Mama". Not shown here - Fran Warren, the singer with Thornhill's band, made a standard of the song "Sunday Kind of Love". Left to right: Dean Martin, Lou Barile and Jerry Lewis. Dean is slowly overtaking 'ole Blue Eyes as my favorite performer. A great, great talent.
